Kanbe’s Markets is dedicated to providing fresh, high-quality produce to underserved communities across Kansas City. We work to create a more equitable and accessible food system by ensuring fresh fruits and vegetables reach the people who need them most. Our team coordinates the efficient distribution of produce to over 120 fresh food access points and 52 hunger relief partners, including local stores, food pantries, and community organizations. With the help of our staff and volunteers, Kanbe’s Markets has helped redirect thousands of pounds of fresh produce, filling plates and supporting neighbors across the city.
As a member of our team, you’ll play a key role in bringing our mission to life—helping maintain produce quality, supporting distribution logistics, engaging with the community, and representing Kanbe’s in meaningful ways. Within your first six months, you’ll gain hands-on experience in operations, volunteer coordination, and donor engagement while building strong relationships with stakeholders who make our work possible.

Summary of Position
The Redirection Associate supports all operations related to the mobilization of volunteers and food redirection in the Kanbe’s Warehouse. This position works with volunteers and the Redirection Program Team to sort produce, maintain quality standards, and keep the warehouse environment clean and organized. Ideal candidates enjoy hands-on work, interacting with volunteers, and contributing to a mission-driven nonprofit environment. This position reports to the Redirection Program Manager.

Summary of Position
The Maintenance Associate is responsible for supporting the Facilities & Equipment Technician with the day to day general warehouse operations, fleet and equipment maintenance and projects as needed for Kanbe’s growing operations. Time will be spent in the warehouse and occasionally offsite as directed. The position reports to the Facilities & Equipment Technician.

The accounting position will oversee the financial transactions for Kanbe’s Markets. Primary responsibilities are accounts payable/receivable management, Employee reimbursements for expenses and mileage through payroll, weekly reports to the CEO, Month end documents all in by the 7th of every month, treasury management, and financial control. The outside accounting company will reconcile all bank accounts monthly and review financial statements for accuracy.
