What is Chat & Snack?

Chat & Snack is an easy, informal way to get to know Kanbe's Markets and discover how you can be part of what we're building across Kansas City. Whether you're curious about volunteering, looking for a team service opportunity, interested in community events, or just want to learn about our food systems, we'd love to come meet you.

How does it work?

We'll come to your workplace, school, or parish and share stories about the impact of our work on the local food system, and why it matters. You'll learn how our food system works, and how it has created gaps in fresh food access, gaps that keep some members of our community from reliably accessing high-quality, affordable food, and why that issue is becoming more urgent.

We'll share stories from the warehouse, walk through how food moves from wholesalers to neighborhood corner stores and community organizations, and bring along some of our freshest finds from our Merch Market. Your people will get to ask questions and connect with our team.

Who is Chat & Snack for?

Chat & Snack visits are available for any organization looking for a simple way to connect their people to meaningful ways to get involved. In one short 45-minute session, schedulable throughout the year, your team, students, or parishioners can get a crash course in why and how we can build a better food system by transforming food loss into food access.

Chat & Snacks are free, but if you'd like to support our mission, we'd love to bring more zest to the table!

For a $250 donation with your Chat & Snack reservation, we'll purchase seasonal produce for your team to enjoy. Any produce leftover will go into our food redirection stream, benefiting the nearly 200 partners working alongside us to feed our community.
