KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - For a decade now, Kanbe’s Markets has been making sure produce doesn’t go to waste while increasing fresh produce access across the community. As the need continues to increase, the nonprofit is asking for your help in its efforts.
“The food network starts at the wholesaler and they can be very picky with what the produce needs to look like,” said John Couture, Kanbe’s Markets Volunteer Engagement Manager. “There can be one pineapple or one strawberry that has blemishes and they throw out the entire pallet.”
