Kanbe’s Markets Named to United Way’s Impact 100 for Second Year in a Row

Kansas City, MO – May 15, 2025

Kanbe’s Markets is honored to be recognized once again by the United Way of Greater Kansas City as part of the 2025 Impact 100 — a designation that celebrates local nonprofits working to meet our region’s most pressing health and human service needs.

This marks our second year as an Impact 100 organization, and with it comes not just vital support, but a deep sense of gratitude. The trust placed in us reflects the strength of our community and the momentum of a growing movement to build something better.

Last year, the support from the Impact 100 award helped us serve 247,082 Kansas City area residents, a whopping 28% increase in individuals served over 2023. Funding from Impact 100 has played a critical role in helping us to grow our network of Fresh Food Access Partners, expand into new neighborhoods, and redirect more than one million pounds of produce to where it’s needed most. Additionally, the attention and visibility we received from the distinction brought new volunteers and companies into our community to volunteer and support this city-wide effort. Cumulatively, this investment helped direct fresh food into more places where it simply didn’t exist before.

This year, the continued support will help us grow even further — expanding our reach and deepening our partnerships as we bring to life even more significant food access. We strive to make Kansas City a city where: parents can grab fresh fruit and vegetables while picking up their kids from school, a city where the healthcare system helps families thrive through Food is Medicine programs, and ultimately a city where no zip code goes without access to real, nourishing food.

"Being named to the Impact 100 again reinforces that we're not just meeting a need — we're reshaping what a food system can look like in Kansas City," said Max Kaniger, CEO of Kanbe’s Markets. "With this support, we’re continuing to build beyond hunger.”

The 2025 Impact 100 cohort represents all six counties served by United Way and reflects the diversity of our region — in race, culture, background, and lived experience. Together, these organizations are creating solutions that improve health outcomes, support youth and education, and strengthen financial security.

We’re proud to be among them. And we’re grateful to our community — to everyone who believes in this work and pushes us forward, block by block.
